The 2007 A6 is a roomy, mid-size sedan that combines all-wheel drive with equal parts luxury and performance. The front end features the A6's most prominent styling cues. Audi has staked out their own corporate face. The chrome-trimmed grill features four rings set on a background of horizontal slats, and it stretches down to the bottom of the A6's nose. Inside, Audi continues to set the standard for good-looking interiors. Like the outside, the 2005 redesign offered few major changes, just many subtle improvements in the design. Be sure to look closely at how finely crafted the details are, such as the interior door handles. You can select from a $41,950 A6 3.2L V6 with front wheel drive. It is very well equipped, with a seven-speed automatic transmission, an electronic stabilization program, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust, front and rear fog lights, power heated mirrors with memory, leather seat trim, power seats, side seat-mounted and curtain air bags, and the rest of the power features expected on a luxury sedan. Most buyers choose the $45,100 A6 sedan 3.2L with quattro. Equipment is the same as the front-wheel-drive 3.2L, with the exception of all-season tires and a six-speed automatic transmission. The $48,000 A6 Avant, which is Audi speak for station wagon, is a nice choice for family duty. A potent 4.2L V8 engine with 350 horsepower is a heady choice for those with a big right foot. The 4.2L also gets more luxury features, including a sunroof, xenon headlights with washers, auto-dimming exterior mirrors with memory, heated seats with memory, a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, a universal garage door opener, and an electrochromic rearview mirror. A number of packages are offered to enhance the A6. The Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, and Convenience Package all add various equipment found on the 4.2. All A6s also can order the Technology Package or the S Line Package. The Technology Package adds Sirius satellite radio, a DVD-based navigation system, a rearview camera, and voice recognition. The S Line Package contains a sportier suspension, lots of exterior aluminum trim, headlight washers, steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters, and unique wheels. New for 2007 is the S6 sedan, which is Audi's most deluxe A6. A 5.2L V10 engine powers the new sedan. With 435 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque the S6 is a driving tool that can put most sports cars to shame. A $3,900 Technology Package has the same content as the A6 Tech Package, with the addition of a speed warning.
